4th consecutive year in
a showdown of top 10
teams Thursday night.
Last year the teams
combined for 36 runs in
a 19-17 Big Lebowski
win, but both teams
struggled to score runs
early amid the record
setting 103 degree
heat on this day.
Strong defense from
both squads kept the
offenses in check as
well, highlighted by an
extra base robbing
diving catch by The
DestroyersDustin
Sifford. The
Destroyers took an early
lead 2-1 in the bottom
of the 1st and trailed
by just 2 runs after 4
innings, 5-3.
The BigLebowskisopened
up a 12-3 lead in
the top of the 5th,
scoring 7 times, with 5
consecutive doubles
scoring 4 runs, capped
by a 3-run homerun from
David Carver to extend
the lead to 9. TheLebowskis'Rachel
Jacobs 2 run homer in
the 6th helped put the
game out of
reach. Talks are
already underway for a
5th meeting in 2012, in
a game that figures to
resemble the 2010
whiteknuckler slugfest
far more than last
night's lopsided affair.
