In 2009, they were certainly
Fat, or Drunk, but in 2008
(#3, 11-1), and 2010 (#29,
7-5, Elite 8), they were
Awesome. So, if you
believe in patterns, FDA
could be looking at a tough
2011 campaign. Odd
numbered years are clearly
not their favorite, unless
you go back to 2007 where
they finished #5 (10-2) and
lost in the Elite 8.
FDA easily dispatched Prime
Beef last week, and return
to the GOTW for the first
time since 2009, where they
are 0-2 all-time. The
good news for them is they
are not playing the Dead
Presidents (both losses were
to them - 2009 and 2008).
They are, however, trying to
do something equally
difficult - beat a rival
team for the fourth straight
time.
On Monday night, FDA renews
their rivalry with Scared
Hitless (2-0) - a team they
have beaten by an average of
10 runs/game in their
history. Scared
Hitless is coming off a
strong finish to the 2010
campaign - having the #3 and
#5 teams to close out the
regular season to vault them
into the tournament and a
first round loss to eventual
Final 4 team, DGS.
They have taken that
momentum into the 2011
campaign, having won their
first two to start the year.
Hitless will be making their
2nd GOTW appearance
all-time, having lost to Big
Riggin' last season in a
Bracket Buster game, which
due to those final two wins,
didn't bust their bracket
hopes. So someone will
leave the field Monday
night, having notched their
first GOTW victory.
night.
