The Islanders - Contrary to many of the longstanding elite teams, the Islanders joined the league in 2017 and 2018 were quick to be "unofficially" named "Rookie of the Year." Since then, we want to believe we've made our mark by rocking badass jerseys, speaking Spanish on the field, and jamming to awesome music. A former health policy fellow founded our team, and a former consultant for the Dept. of Education, who worked to in some way ensure inclusion and legislative parity for Puerto Rico, as many congressional staffers when helping to pass major legislation failed to know the implications for the island, as a U.S. territory. With Roberto Clemente's number 21 on our jersey and a PR flag on our sleeve, each year we take on the regular season in style. We are known to be a friendly, easy-going team with a competitive edge... that proves just enough to keep us ranked in the top 25, but come tournament time fails to qualify us past the first round. For 2019, in addition to a new co-capt, we've solidly recruited a mix of both Ricans and state siders to keep our team lean, agile and strong... and as the #1 team prior to the standings going dark ...we are coming in HOT. This week, we face off with the Stoney's (#6), which judging by their schedule, it has all the ingredients for a good matchup...but come game time, may not match our team's high energy, solid offense, and thirst for a championship. Lets just put it this way, PR recently ousted its Governor in a matter of two weeks, so we don't expect any issues channeling our island vibes and our 9-0 winning streak, to oust the Stoney's from a win.

Stoney's - Looks like we can call this week's matchup of Stoney's vs. The Islanders the "Old New Guard" vs. the "New New Guard." Stoney's came into the house league in 2015 and immediately racked up three straight top-ten regular-season finishes, including a #1 overall in their second year in the league. But age, career changes, weddings, and moves hit the grilled cheese pushers hard in 2018, and they stumbled to a number 31 finish. But, with a few games to go in the year, Stoney's finds itself right back in the top-10 and facing a third-year team in the Islanders that are looking to solidify that number one spot and an undefeated regular season. These teams have never met before, and it will be quite the showdown this week.
