Game of the Week
Various Positions: With a heritage built on being proud, single, and willing to play various positions, most of the VP players are now in relationships. While of the majority of us have paired off and the dating has slowed down, this doesn't mean that the team has slowed down on the field (although age is slowly catching up with us!) With different variations of the team playing year-round, VP is still a fun team of players who truly love the game. We play on Mondays and Wednesdays and love to go out. In the league now for approximately four years, VP has consistently been near the top of the rankings and hopes to again make a strong showing in the tournament. Fueled this week by various beverages and the looming pressure of needing another game to qualify for the tournament, VP is looking forward to taking on 2DM, during which we'll do our best to consume our 2 drink minimum in various positions on the field while probably getting rained on, which seems to have been an essential component to all of our games this season.
2DM: The U.S. Small Business Administration’s House Congressional League softball team has been in action since the early days of the Bush Administration. Originally called the Loan Sharks, the celebratory style and non-threatening play of a fairly mediocre team in the early days, the team changed its name to a more fitting “Two Drink Minimum.” To avoid any backlash from SBA Leadership, and already ashamed of the erratic level of play, the official name became 2DM. In recent years 2DM has found their stride, and while still honoring the Two Drink name and tradition, has managed to become a solid ball club, making the House playoffs for the past two years and (fueled by the addition of some new players and Lime-a-Ritas) breaking into the Top 10 in the league after a team record 9-0 start to the season. 2DM looks to bounce back this week in its final regular season game, but the competition is tough, as they battle #7 Various Positions for gameday glory, bragging rights and seeding for the tournament.
