On Tuesday, the weather gods smiled upon 2DM and Various Positions, giving both teams one of the few rainless game nights of the season. A bit of daylight was lost, not due to an early sunset, but due to the largest flock of seagulls in the DC area, darkening the sky as they fed upon giant hatching of insects that seemed to be infesting all of West Potomac Park. Like something out of Alfred Hitchcock's film "The Birds," the seagulls watched and circled, but fortunately, no attacks were reported.

A review of the ESPN highlights reveals a combined total of three non-traditional double plays and fantastic full splits performed by a 2DM player running to third base. The majority of the action occurred in the outfield-including several impressive catches by the Various Positions right and right-center fielders near the second base of adjoining field number one. The pitcher on that team did not find the deep hit balls and masterful fielding nearly as impressive, especially as one such ball clipped him in the behind while on the mound. Had there been an outfield fence, there were have been an impressively high number of home runs hit by both teams. Instead, the neighboring team's game was interrupted-essentially the entire time.

In the end, Various Positions defeated 2DM 13-5. Both teams would have loved to try to put up more runs with one more inning, but decided to end after six innings, before darkness set in, and to close the season injury-free in preparation for the tournament!
